What Is Antisemitism?
The most widely used definition of antisemitism is the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition, which states:
Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as a hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.
IHRA further states: Antisemitism frequently charges Jews with conspiring to harm humanity, and it is often used to blame Jews for “why things go wrong."
The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism has been adopted in the U.S. by the Departments of State and Education and over 30 states, by the European Union, United Nations, and 43 UN Member States. Over 1,100 international institutions and organizations, national and local governments, non-profits, universities, athletic clubs and corporations have endorsed this definition.
